Principles of ABA
ABA focuses on how behaviors are learned and how they can be changed. It uses positive reinforcement to encourage desirable behaviors while reducing behaviors that may hinder learning or development. Each ABA program is customized to the individual’s needs, allowing for personalized learning experiences.
Techniques and Methods
Individuals with ASD may engage in repetitive actions or have focused interests in specific topics. These behaviors can provide comfort or help them manage anxiety but may appear unusual to others. Who Will Join You on Your ABA Path?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is the scientific study of how people learn and behave. ABA is also considered the leading therapy to help children on the autism spectrum thrive by increasing their independence and quality of life.
The pathway to successful outcomes includes various All Together Autism team members:
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a clinician with an advanced graduate degree in the study of ABA and field training certified through a national board and licensed in the state of practice. The BCBA serves as the case manager for services through All Together Autism and leads the clinical team to collaborate with you in developing and implementing your child’s treatment plan.
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who holds a certification in behavior analysis through a national board and must practice under the supervision of a BCBA. The RBT serves to implement the treatment plan through 1:1 therapy with your child, as developed by the BCBA. An RBT must complete at least 40 hours of training in applied behavior analysis and pass a competency and written exam prior to certification.
Licensed Psychologist is a doctoral prepared clinician specializing in autism who takes a broad approach to assess, diagnose, and treat and works closely with the ABA team, your child’s pediatrician or medical practitioner, and other healthcare providers to implement integrated treatment plans.
